About me
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website.
I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based in Comrie, Perthshire specialising in working with trauma and autism. I offer Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy with my herd of five horses alongside offering online sessions for those further away.
I have eight years experience in working with those who have experienced complex trauma and its impacts, particularly those who have suffered abuse (current and historical). I am experienced in working with other autistic people and their families including supervising and delivering training. As an autistic person I find that I am able to notice connections and detail that may often not be clear. I work in an intuitive way and share how and what I am experiencing with my clients. Having this lived experience can be useful both for other autistic (and otherwise neurodivergent) clients and neurotypical clients looking for an alternative way of working and seeing the world.

I aim to provide clients with a safe, confidential space in which to be heard and accepted as you are. My role is to journey into your emotional landscape with you, to understand what the world looks like from your experiencing. By offering empathy, honesty and acceptance in this relationship it allows change to begin to take place, and for you to begin to find the answers you may be looking for.

I work with adults aged 16 and up.

I am a member of BACP, The HERD Institute and International Equine Professionals and work to their ethical frameworks.

Counselling
I believe that it is through developing a trusting relationship that change can happen. Often we don't feel comfortable sharing certain parts of ourselves with those that are closest to us, for fear of burdening them. I offer a space for you to do this. Whether we work in person with the horses on online my aim is to provide a platform for you to explore becoming more yourself. In our personal relationships this can be challenging as we hold concerns for how the other person may respond. By building a relationship together, and with the horses, it can allow you to identify different parts of how you might relate to others without the fear of their response. Your experiences are unique, my role is to try to step into your way of experiencing the world and share my reflections with you. In doing this I hope to help you make the changes you wish to make in order to live the life you want. I know that taking the first step towards change can be scary, but I hope that by taking that step together can make it feel easier.

I am trained in humanistic psychotherapy placing the relationship we build at the foundation. I am able to offer creative ways of working and am client directed so will work in the way you feel is best.
Finding the right counsellor for you is important, therefore I offer a free 15 minute consultation prior to booking your first session. We can discuss any concerns you may have about coming for counselling and I am happy to answer any questions.
